The goal for this session was to go over the basics of music theory and ear training while hinting at more advanced concepts. However, “basic” turned out to be a relative term. Every teacher and instrument focuses on certain theory concepts first and teaches them in different ways. So, while this session covered “basic” ideas, everyone contributed their unique understanding of theory, shaped by how they were taught and how their instrument is set up. The main takeaway from the session wasn’t the information presented, but the new perspectives gained on everyday concepts.
