How should I practice and how long should I practice are perennial questions from jazz students. This session answered neither. As much as we wanted to give students concrete ways to practice, practice schedules and routines are fluid. They grow based on where you’re at musically and where you’re at in life; a full-time high school student has a lot less time to practice than a full-time conservatory student. This session wasn’t about telling students what to do; it was about teaching them how to think so that they could make practicing work for them and their goals
